Türkiye has hosted numerous significant governmental and non-governmental meetings, starting with the United Nations Conference on Human Settlements (Habitat II) in İstanbul in 1998. Since then, Türkiye has successfully organized major international events, including the NATO Summit, the AGIT Summit, the World Water Forum with 33,000 visitors, and the IMF-World Bank Conference in 2009, which attracted over 20,000 attendees.

 

Recognized as a top destination for governmental meetings, Türkiye hosted the G20 Summit in Antalya in 2015, with heads of state in attendance. Over the past 20 years, İstanbul, Ankara, and Antalya have welcomed world leaders for various congresses and meetings, demonstrating Türkiye’s capability to host global summits.

According to the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA), Türkiye hosted 1,875 association meetings between 2010 and 2023. Furthermore, İstanbul was ranked among the Top 10 congress destinations globally from 2010 to 2015.

 

İstanbul’s reputation for excellence is demonstrated by its hosting of numerous highly acclaimed conferences in recent years. Notable international congresses include the FDI World Dental Congress with 15,000 delegates, the EADV International Congress of the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology with 8,100 delegates, the 23rd World Energy Congress with 10,000 delegates, the 22nd World Petroleum Congress with 5,000 delegates, and the WFNS World Congress of Neurosurgery with 8,000 delegates.
